Unveling our Spring 2018 window – and our choice of the season’s trends

New season, new window

Designing a new window is always one of our favourite projects here at CR. It gives us a chance to shine a spotlight on some of our favourite designers, trends and pieces, and shake up our showroom regularly.

This season, Janet’s put together a beautiful tropical theme that’s been receiving some wonderful feedback from our local clients – so we thought it was time to share it with the rest of the world!

The design’s focus is the stunning Savuti wallpaper, from the Ardmore collection by Cole and Sons. The striking pattern, named for one of Botswana’s best known national parks, is complete with quirky illustrations of birds of paradise, baboons and chameleons sunning themselves in coral trees.

Savuti is available in seven colourways, and we’ve chosen Dark Petrol, one of the bolder options, for our window, with the darker shades contrasting with other features in the scheme.

The pattern is also available in more subtle, monochrome colourings, as well as some wonderful options from bright orange to duck egg, each making a different statement in a room – you can see all of them in our showroom.

Colour blocking of sorbet shades on the cushions highlight the images in the wallpaper, while Rattan is used in pendant lighting and accessories to complete the eclectic scheme.

It’s brought plenty of Spring brightness to our showroom, and we’re just waiting for the weather to catch up!

If you want to pop by and see it for yourself, or talk to our designers about your own home, then we’re on Huddersfield Road in Mirfield – you can find a map right here.

New trends for 2018

Scandi Boho

Short for Scandinavian Bohemian. Scandi touches are rarely out of style – you may remember that the chunky cosiness of the Hygge trend was everywhere just a year ago, but the Boho style is a much lighter, airier and minimal take on Scandinavian décor.

Clean, calm lines are a key feature, with the same colour palette used across walls, skirts and architraves. A room finds its unique personality through the arty twist of quirky colourful items in this style.

Pot plants

Bring the outdoors in with pot plants – and don’t be restricted to traditional ferns and flowers, either. Think rustic containers as striking statement pieces thanks to tall plants such as palms, bananas plants and umbrella plants.

Carefully placed, these can have a massive impact on interiors. The bold greens will make the perfect addition to a minimal Scandi Boho room, while also improving the air quality in your home.

Soft hues

With Pantone’s colour of the year for 2018 being Ultra Violet, it could be tempting to go all out with bold colours.

However, lilacs and blush pinks are still a strong accompaniment for more vivid tones, as well as all the many shades of greys and navy tones that have been popular in recent years, working with a variety of styles to bring in comforting and calming features.

If the minimalism of Scandi Boho isn’t for you, then don’t settle for anything less than pure maximalism, particularly when it comes to textiles.

Layering textiles and fabrics in a room makes it feel cosy and opulent, so aim for chunky knit blankets, throws, Icelandic sheepskins, cushions and rugs. Perfect for curling up and escaping the outside world for a while.

Setting the mood

When it comes to picking a dominant colour for a room, shades of dark green, such as those seen in the Savuti wallpaper in our window, are a must.

Think forest and emerald greens when ordering new sofas in velvets or chenille fabrics, choosing wallpaper patterns, or painting a feature wall.

Two new testimonials from happy clients

Some great feedback from long-term clients

We’ve received some lovely testimonials from two of our clients recently, and just wanted to share them with you all – we’ve worked with both Diane and Karen many times over the years, and we’re always happy to hear from them. Thank you for the kind words!

Diane Campbell

Wow, I do not know where to start! Claire Longden is one amazing designer. I first discovered CR interiors when Claire’s Victorian house was featured in the Christmas edition of 25 Beautiful Homes.

I got in contact with CR Interiors as I really needed some help with designing my home. I am a super-busy mum who does not have a lot of time to search for wallpaper, paint and fabric. In addition to this, I was always making expensive mistakes.

Claire knows my style and puts together some fantastic mood boards. She always goes that extra mile and nothing is too much trouble.  I receive all my samples of paint, wallpaper and fabric through the post, then I decide on the design and place my order over the telephone – it’s all so easy.

I would highly recommend the designers at CR Interiors! Best of all, you can live anywhere the country and still have a beautifully designed home.

Karen Ellis

20 years ago, my husband called into Curtain Raisers on his way home from work, to buy a curtain hook for the curtains in the house we had just moved into in Mirfield. He came home and told me what a wonderful shop he had just been into – a real Aladdin’s Cave of fabrics and papers – and from that date Karen, Claire and their team have advised us and then decorated every room in our house.

Karen has researched wallpapers for us from as far away as the USA, and her attention to detail is second to none. Every room pleases us just as much now as when it was completed and we are just about to embark on our next exciting project with Karen, Claire and the team.

I cannot recommend this shop highly enough. The ideas that they come up with and the help and advice they give with the choices of curtains, blinds, papers and every other aspect of the room being decorated, should you need it, is first class. I would not go anywhere else!

If they can’t do something, they always know someone who can. CR Interiors is definitely the one-stop-shop for all your home design requirements.
