Kitchen and Dining

Our client wanted their barn conversion to have a focus on open-plan living, with plenty of natural light flowing into the property. During consultation, we discovered their love of travel, and particularly visiting the hotel chain Firmdale, whose interiors are designed by Kit Kemp with a strong mix of colours and patterns.

We put together a flowing palette of fabrics heavily influenced by Kemp’s style, and used these throughout the project. We made a banquet seating and coordinating dining chairs in assorted fabrics, with funky colourful bar stools for the kitchen area. Adding sheer window treatments completed the look.

Rustic light wood surfaces made the perfect accompaniment to both the colourful furnishings and the exposed stone work, tying the conversion’s many styles together. With skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows letting lots of natural light into the conversion, the kitchen and dining area feels wonderfully open and airy, perfect for social gatherings.

Master Bedroom

Carrying the statement Kit Kemp styling through to the master bedroom, we sourced wallpaper and colourful appliquéd fabrics, velvets, lamps and rugs. Adding an oversized arm chair next to the drawers creates a bold impact to this angle.

Designing the master bedroom around existing oak furniture, we updated the headboard with fabric to match the chair, adding comfort, while white walls kept the room feeling as light and airy as the rest of the conversion despite much smaller windows. The lamps and bed-throw in bold colours added a strong accent, with matching embellished scatter cushions to complete the look.
